A Luxe Spring Wedding at Grand Bohemian
I had to dedicate a full blog post to Marissa and Will — not only because they are genuinely incredible humans, but because I loved how intentionally they planned their wedding day to include a variety of couple’s portraits at different moments. Their luxe spring wedding at the Grand Bohemian was thoughtfully designed to slow down, soak it all in, and create space for meaningful connection throughout the day.
They planned three key portrait sessions, each with a completely different vibe — and while the final one was totally unplanned, it ended up being my absolute favorite.
Wing Haven First Look | A Romantic Spring Garden Moment
For their first portraits, we stepped away from the chic, artistic atmosphere of the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charlotte and headed to Wing Haven Gardens for a spring, English-garden inspired first look. This location was private, lush, and incredibly romantic — the perfect setting for Marissa and Will to see each other for the first time.
The greenery, soft light, and quiet surroundings created such an intimate start to their wedding day and set the tone for the rest of their luxe spring wedding at Grand Bohemian.
Búho Bar at Grand Bohemian | Moody Editorial Portraits
After their ceremony in the Grand Bohemian Garden, we headed upstairs to the iconic Búho Bar for a completely different feel. This space was ideal for moody, high-end, editorial-style portraits — complete with direct flash and dramatic lighting.
It also gave Marissa and Will a chance to step away from the excitement and chaos of the day for a few moments together, just the two of them, before heading back into the celebration.
Grand Bohemian Rooftop | A Perfect, Unplanned Moment
This final portrait session was a happy accident — and truly the cherry on top of an already beautiful celebration. Marissa and Will snuck away from the dance floor with their friends for a quick break, and after debating whether the rooftop was open, we decided to find out for ourselves. The timing couldn’t have been better. Surrounded by glowing Uptown Charlotte skyscrapers, the rooftop felt calm, cinematic, and breathtaking.
We only stayed for about five minutes — just enough time for a few quick portraits and a celebratory cigar — but it gave them space to pause, breathe, and really take in what they had just created together. It was the perfect ending to their portrait timeline during their luxe spring wedding at the Grand Bohemian.
A Celebration to Remember
These two — and their friends — truly know how to celebrate. From heartfelt moments to high-energy dancing, the entire day was filled with joy. As always, it’s the in-between moments that end up being my favorite — the quiet looks, the laughter, the stolen seconds that happen naturally when a wedding day is planned with intention.
