As I mentioned in my previous post, Sam and I are in a long distance relationship. We switch off months to visit each other, and February was my turn to head to New Jersey and New York (bummer, right?). Being up there means I get to tag along to events for his job as a spirits editor, using my camera for a different use: cocktails. While he tastes, reviews, and interviews, I photograph...and also maybe taste. Ok, I taste a lot. I had the pleasure of joining him at The Stinger, where they utilize honey made by bees on their rooftop. We tasted Junoon's entire cocktail menu and tried a preview of the food they offered for Valentine's Day. We visited the best bar in the world, Dead Rabbit to celebrate its anniversary. We drove to Philly to enjoy the opening of Bluecoat Gin's new distillery (and had cheesesteak, obviously). We toured three bars in the Dream Midtown hotel, one of which features the Mega Mule - a freaking huge and amazing Moscow Mule. (Keep scrolling, y'all. It's in here. You can't miss it.) And honestly, this is just a fraction of our adventures over two weeks. I got to photograph two lovely couples with Manhattan as the backdrop, had a ton of soup dumplings in Chinatown, and celebrated a great Valentine's Day in the city. This guy spoils me, and I love watching him do his thing. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
And seriously, I want to photography couples up there. Engagement sessions, weddings, just-because sessions. If you know anyone who would be interested, tell them to contact me!
PS - My hair caught on fire while drinking the Mega Mule. No photos were taken, unfortunately. Sorry to disappoint.
